Privacy policy

Last updated 19 October 2026

This policy explains what Listener Bot ("we") collects through the Discord bot and this website, and what we do with it.

What the bot captures

When the bot is in a voice channel it receives the audio of the people speaking there. It keeps only the most recent few seconds to minutes (set by each server, 60 seconds by default) in memory, continuously overwriting older audio. Nothing is written to disk unless someone in the call runs /clip or /record start, or the server has turned on auto-record for that channel (which is announced in the call like any recording).

By default the bot does not capture video. If the experimental camera capture is turned on and a Premium server keeps it on, the bot also receives the camera video of people in the call: it keeps a short window (30 seconds by default) in memory for /clip and records cameras during /record, and it announces in the server when someone's camera is being recorded.

The bot never captures screen shares (Discord doesn't send them to bots), text messages or message content.

What is stored

Clips and recordings are deleted automatically after the server's retention period (7 days on the Free plan, up to 365 on Premium; when Premium ends, a 14-day grace period applies first). The person who started a recording, or a server manager, can delete it earlier with /recordings delete or in the dashboard.

Cookies

The site sets a login cookie when you log in to the dashboard, and a short-lived one during the Discord login itself. There are no analytics or advertising cookies.

Who can access it

Clips are posted in the Discord channel where they were requested. Recordings are reachable only through signed links that expire (7 days by default), which are posted in that server and shown in the dashboard to the server's managers.

Premium is sold through Paddle.com, our reseller and merchant of record, under Paddle's privacy policy.

Your choices

Run /optout in any server with the bot, or use the privacy page in the dashboard, to stop it from ever capturing your voice (and camera); anything it is holding from you at that moment is discarded. /optin reverses this. Anyone in a call can also /pause the bot or make it /leave. Server managers can mark roles whose members are never captured.
